Dotster used to be considered cheap but never lowered its prices to meet competitors. At $15 a domain, it’s nothing great anymore. If you call them you can negotiate lower prices.

The interface is just awful, prices are ridiculous. I really can’t find anything positive to say about them.

Why are they not huge? I remember how they ran namewinner into the ground and could never get any traction as a registrar and they were early movers in this business.
I have had plenty of domains with them but now I only go there for the cheap .info specials.
Bad domain management and other stupid things. Sorry dotster, nothing against you but you could have been so much bigger. I don’t know why you didn’t capitalize on your early mover advantage AND keep namewinner.

Sorry Dotster, but your prices are stuck in the 1990’s and your service reeks. Moving domains away from your service was a nightmare. You need to get real.

Dotster AKA Domain.com use anyone but them for registration because they are a nightmare. It is no savings to use these scammers. I registered 6 domains with them and they did not change my name servers so they could try for some advertising at my expense. Save yourself some big frustration and stay clear of these people.

Dotster is the most unethical registrars I have come across. What they did was - put my domain in a pending delete state 10 days before it expired and asked me to pay $150.00 restoration fee. I did not bother restoring it. Just moved all my remaining domains away from them.

i hate it when registrars aren’t forthcoming with ALL of their prices (most of them are like that). often difficult or impossible to find prices until you need to click the PAY button. i transferred over some domains for the bait price of $6.99. then i saw $15 for renewals. too much. security: unable to lock domains (needed to pay extra?) customer service: i just put 3 stars, never dealt with them.
